April 2nd 12:00pm

Kaden had a decent night and morning. We are still chasing the nausea. We found out that the pain pump medicine was a big part of his nausea. They changed out the pain medicine to a different one this morning and we are hoping it will be better. (It's worth a shot!)

They gave him some phenergan this morning and that has seemed to help. The only problem with that is that it zonks him out. They came to do PT with him this morning and he was just too tired, so they said they would circle back later.

He has only been able to have a few ice chips and his nurse took pity on him this morning and gave him 2 sips of apple juice to get the phenergan pill taste out of his mouth. I think that is a big reason why he is having the nausea too. On a normal day, Kaden will get nauseous if he doesn't have food.  So when you add 3 days with no food and the hard pain killers he is on it makes a perfect storm for feeling pretty yucky!

He has been sleeping pretty much all morning. The nurse and I decided that oversleeping was WAY better than the nausea, so we are just letting him rest. He will wake up every now and then and ask for an ice chip or adjust his position, but is back to sleep pretty quickly after that.

Unfortunately, I think we may just be chasing this around and around until his bowels wake back up and he can actually have some food in his stomach. Just hoping to keep him comfortable until then. :)

The surgeon just came to check on him and she said that he looks really good still and they are hoping to move him out of ICU today. They are just waiting on a bed to put him in. :)

April 14th Update-- Plus Pathology Results!

What a difference a week makes! Kaden has been doing SO good with his recovery! He is able to eat more food. He still doesn't eat a lot ...
